What I collect

When you sign up for On the Ranch or Page Ninety, I collect the email address you provide. If you email me, I receive whatever you include in that message (typically your email address and the content of your note).

How I use your information

I use your email address to send the content you request, including Page Ninety and On the Ranch newsletter messages, and to manage your subscription. This includes confirmation emails, book news, cover reveals, occasional notes, and messages related to your subscription or requests.

I may also use limited technical information that hosting and email tools collect automatically (such as basic server logs) to operate and improve the site and mailings.

Newsletter and website providers

I use Kit, formerly ConvertKit, to manage newsletter subscriptions and send emails. Kit processes subscriber information on my behalf under its applicable service terms and data processing agreement. The On the Ranch signup on this site uses Kit’s forms.

I use Cloudflare Pages to host this website. Cloudflare processes technical information associated with website visits to provide hosting, security, and related services. Some signup forms on this site (including the homepage free-story form and Page Ninety) submit your email through a Cloudflare-hosted path. That path stores your email in a Cloudflare database so I can confirm your request, and uses my email delivery provider to send confirmation emails.

Cookies and similar technology

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may use cookies or similar technology needed to deliver pages securely and reliably. On pages that use Kit’s signup form or scripts, Kit may set cookies or use similar technology related to those forms, and Kit’s pages may use Cloudflare cookies for security. This site’s Kit signup forms do not have third-party analytics tags (such as Google or Facebook) configured. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work if you block them.

Sharing

I share information only as needed to run the site and newsletter (for example, with Kit, Cloudflare, and my email delivery provider), to comply with law, or to protect rights and safety. I do not sell personal information.

How long I keep information

I retain personal information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the services you request, manage subscriptions, respond to inquiries, and meet legal obligations.

Unsubscribing stops newsletter emails but does not necessarily delete your subscriber record. I may retain limited information to honor your unsubscribe request and prevent further mailings. You can contact me to request deletion.

Children

This site and newsletter are intended for adults. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact me and I will delete it.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from On the Ranch at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email. You can also email me to ask what information I have about you, to correct it, or to request deletion, subject to legal limits.
